Across Europe by bike to promote road safety.
Eliano and Gianni strike back. One year after the Tour of the Small
European Countries, which in summer of 2004 saw Eliano Cuoghi and
Gianni Debbi (along with a huge number of friends of theirs) travelling
by bike

4,000
kms (2,485 miles) in 24 days, these unstoppable bicycle tourists
jump back on their bikes to start a journey of rediscovery of the
"twinned towns", in the attempt of bringing together different
European cultures in the name of road safety.
"
From the Land of Castles to the Castles of Twins"
("Dalle Terre dei Castelli ai Castelli dei Gemelli" in
Italian) is therefore the tour name. A route of 4,000 kms (divided
into more than thirty legs) which is going to unravel across eight
European countries, passing through a huge number of cities and
towns, some of which are twinned with the Municipalities belonging
to the "Union of the Land of Castles" ("Unione delle
Terre dei Castelli").
It's going to be a 4,000 kms long journey; a challenge that Eliano, Gianni and all their friends will undergo in the name of road safety, sustainable mobility, health and sport.
The most relevant tour legs will reach our twinned towns:
- Ljubljana (Sloveny), which is willing to establish good relationships with towns in Emilia
- Zalalovo (Hungary) twinned with Savignano
- Suhr (Switzerland) twinned with Castelnuovo
- Mont Louis (France) twinned with Castelvetro
- Barbezieux (France) twinned with Vignola
The tour is starting from and arriving to Spilamberto.
Start: 25
th May 2005.
Arrival: 24
th June 2005, the day when San Giovanni,
patron saint of Spilamberto, is celebrated.
